Charter a Private Catamaran in Santorini

In brief: a Santorini catamaran charter gives you the whole boat — captain, crew, Greek BBQ, open bar and a caldera route shaped around your group — from €1,200 for five hours including up to six guests, with each additional guest at €100.

Sharing a deck with strangers is the right call for some trips and completely wrong for others. A birthday, a wedding party, three families travelling together, or simply a couple who want the caldera to themselves — that is charter territory. Here is how chartering our catamaran in Santorini works, what it costs, and which format fits which occasion.

Whole Boat vs Per Person

Charter format Duration Price
Private day charter About 5 hours €1,200 with up to 6 guests, +€100 per extra guest
Private sunset charter 5 hours into golden hour €1,200 with up to 6 guests, +€100 per extra guest
Full-day charter A full day, with Thirassia ashore €2,400 with up to 6 guests, +€100 per extra guest
Proposal package 5 hours, morning or sunset €1,600 with up to 8 guests aboard

The arithmetic is simple: six or more of you, and a yacht charter in Santorini costs about what six semi-private seats would — except the boat, the pace and the playlist are yours.

Private sailing catamaran cruising the Santorini caldera

What Every Charter Includes

The crew sails, cooks and hosts: a licensed captain, a Greek BBQ grilled on board with vegetarian and vegan versions on request, Santorini wine, beer and soft drinks, snorkeling gear and towels, and free round-trip hotel transportation. SUP boards and canoes can be added to private cruises on request.

Your Route, Within the Weather

Charters sail the caldera from Vlychada Marina, but the itinerary bends to your group: longer at Red Beach for the snorkelers, straight to the hot springs before the crowds, an extra hour drifting under the Akrotiri lighthouse for the photographs. On the full-day format, that flexibility reaches as far as Thirassia and — on request — a walk on the Nea Kameni volcano itself.

Pickups and Boarding

Departures leave from and return to Vlychada, with hotel transfer included island-wide. On private charters we can also arrange embarkation exceptions — the Old Port of Fira, or Ammoudi Bay below Oia — on request, which saves cliff-top guests the drive south.

Occasions That Fit a Charter

Proposals have their own package, with the moment planned in advance with the crew. Beyond that: honeymoons that want privacy at sunset, milestone birthdays, families whose toddlers set the schedule, and small companies who discovered a catamaran beats a conference room. If your occasion needs something unusual, ask — the answer is usually yes.

Charter Questions

How much does it cost to charter a catamaran in Santorini?

Five-hour private charters start at €1,200 including up to six guests, day or sunset. Each additional guest adds €100, and the full-day charter with time ashore on Thirassia is €2,400 on the same basis.

How many people can join a private charter?

Tell us your group size and we’ll confirm the fit — pricing includes six guests and adds €100 per extra person. We keep every sailing to the number that’s genuinely comfortable on deck rather than the maximum the paperwork allows.

Can we board somewhere other than Vlychada Marina?

On private charters, yes — embarkation at the Old Port of Fira or at Ammoudi Bay can be arranged on request. Note that Old Port boarding sometimes happens via tender boat, so it isn’t ideal for guests with mobility issues.

Is the skipper and fuel included in the price?

Yes — every charter is fully crewed and all-inclusive: captain and crew, fuel, the onboard BBQ, drinks, snorkeling equipment, towels and hotel transfers. There is no bareboat option; you relax, the crew works.

What is the cancellation policy for charters?

Private cruises cancel free of charge up to four days before the charter date, and date changes cost nothing, subject to availability. If we cancel for severe weather, the amount is refunded in full.
